The Grateful Dead Corner

The latest box set release by The Grateful Dead is June 1976 featuring 15 CDs from five shows on the east coast. This box set includes two shows from the Boston Music Hall in Boston, Massachusetts, two shows from the Beacon Theater in New York City, and one show from the Capital Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. It’s also the return of drummer Mickey Hart.

A three-CD set and digital release featuring the original album with newly remastered sound, plus an unreleased complete concert recorded on February 21, 1971 at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY.

Available on October 30th, the three-CD set will feature the original album with newly remastered audio, plus one of the most requested archival recordings in the Dead’s vault – the unreleased concert recorded on February 18, 1971 at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. On stage that night, the Dead debuted a whole new batch of songs, five in all: “Wharf Rat,” “Playing In The Band,” “Bertha,” “Greatest Story Ever Told” and “Loser.”

This is the second Dave’s Picks release from the1980s era, as the last volume was from Philadelphia in 1984. Fast forward three years after Jerry Garcia’s diabetic coma and the Grateful Dead are back for a spring 1987 tour with two shows in Hartford, Connecticut. It’s a special 4-disc release featuring both shows and incredible versions of ‘Bird Song,’ ‘He’s Gone,’ and ‘Morning Dew’ just for starters. After this tour the Grateful dead recorded their best selling album of all time, ‘In The Dark.’
